Pontypool Community Council - Date of Next Meeting

To view the agenda for this meeting please click on the Council toolbar at the top of this page then choose the relevant committee from the options on the toolbar on the left hand side of the page.  All meetings start at 6.30pm (unless stated otherwise) and are held in our Council Chamber at 35a Commercial Street, Pontypool.

 The next Committee meeting will be Full Council which will take place on Wednesday 26th June 2019 at 6.30pm 

Party in the Park 2019







Pontypool Community Council have taken over the organisation of the Party in the Park event from Torfaen County Borough Council.

The event will take place on Saturday 13th July 2019 in Pontypool Park.

We are in the process of booking acts and entertainment  so watch this space for more information on the days proceedings.

Poetry Competition 2019

Do you write poetry?  

Why not enter our poetry competition for the chance of winning a cash prize.

We have a senior competition and an 11-18 years competition.

The theme this year is: Land of my fathers - Rugby/Grand Slam.

You entry must not exceed 30 lines  and please can you state if you are entering the senior or junior category. 

The prizes are as follows:

Winner = £50,  a Parker pen set and framed copy of your poem

2nd - £30

3rd - £20 

The finalists will be invited to recite their entries at a presentation evening in July where the winner will be announced. 

The Closing date is Friday  19th June 2019

Torfaen Playscheme volunteers

The Play Service is currently looking for volunteers aged 16+ to support our summer playschemes,

Inter School's Eisteddfod 2019

On Wednesday 20th March and Thursday 21st March Pontypool Community Council held their annual Inter School's Eisteddfod.  The following schools participated in the event:

Cwmffrwdoer Primary

George Street Primary

New Inn Primary

Penygarn Community Primary

Garnteg Primary

Griffithstown Primary

Ysgol Bryn Onnen

Ysgol Panteg

The Children participated in several solo singing, solo recitation, group recitation, instrumental, folk dancing and choir categories all in the medium of welsh.

The event was a huge success and everyone enjoyed the two days.

The winners were:

Infants - joint 1st  - New Inn Primary and Griffithstown Primary

2nd   - Garnteg Primary     

joint 3rd - Ysgol Bryn Onnen and Cwmffrwdoer Primary

Juniors - 1st - Griffithstown

2nd - New Inn

3rd - George Street

Congratulations to all who took part and thank you to all who helped with the event. 



 The Community Council have produced a newsletter outlining examples of what services we provide, what events we host and what funding we provide to the Community as well as other useful information.
